I'm new to Linux. Will can I learn Linux from smartphones.
Is there any Linux OS based smartphone in India, where can we buy it?

If you want to learn Linux then best to hookup a cheap PC and do it that way. These days in the West PCs have become "worthless" and you can't even give them away. There's a few emerging smartphones running Linux though I'm not not entirely sure about the Indian market.

If you're in India, you know what's for sale there better than we do. You can find Linux smartphones with a brief Google search, most notably the Pinephone..no idea if they ship to India. And as slackerz said, if you want to learn Linux, a smartphone isn't the way to do it. Get a computer, because even a Raspberry Pi is going to be more powerful and faster than a phone, and cheaper too. Any old 64 bit laptop will work well also.

Last I heard the PinePhone still wasn't allowed into Russia or India. However that could change at any time. If you are interested in buying this device I would try to contact pine64 to see if this policy has changed.

But that aside, although some people are using it as their main phone, it's not daily driver ready for most. Battery life is still rather low(24hr is the best I got on standby with Crust enabled) and it is not exactly stable due to the current rapid development on most OS's. There are updates almost daily.


You might try buying a device that's supported by Sailfish or Ubports and flashing it yourself. Let us know what you come up with.
