Question about the desktop
Hello,
I am not sure where to post this question, I am not sure if it is a general Linux question, a distro question or a desktop environment in my case KDE question. I recently installed Linux Mint 18.1 64 bit with KDE. I use my PC for a lot of things other than just as a computer. I do a lot of gaming but I also use it as a HTPC so I use my PC a lot from my sofa and my HDTV (soon to be a 4K TV). So far i been doing most of my gaming as well as HTPC tasks when running Windows 10, I have now ditched Windows 10 and restored a Windows 7 Ultimate from a backup to get rind of all of Microsucks data mining on Win 10. I would like to use Linux 80%-90% of the time and only use Windows when playing my Windows only games. The question I have is about the desktop zooming or scaling. On Windows 7 after you set your native monitor resolution currently for me it is 1920x1080 and the screen zoom is set to 100% but it is easy to change and on Windows 10 the default is set to 150% The screen resolution is still set at 1080P. The only thing it changes is the size of the desktop elements like the fonts and window widgets etc. So far on Mint I have not been able to figure out how to do this or even if it is possible to do. Can this be done in Linux? If so how do you zoom the desktop in without changing the actual screen resolution. I tried doing this but I screwed up everything. I had installed the Nvidia driver for my GeForce GTX 1080 GPU and I changed the screen resolution but I picked the wrong one and the desktop was scaled to where the top and bottom of the screen is off of the size of the monitor. I could not even change it back because I could not figure out how to scroll the screen up and down to be able to select the selection widgets at the bottom of the window. I could not even get to the task bar to select the shut down widget. At this point I am just going to reinstall everything but I would like find out if the desktop can be zoomed in.
Thanks for your help,
