I'm sorry Jalynn. If Windows rocks and rolls better on that rig. I'd roll with that. Cuz I am out of ideas when it comes to ZorinOS.

My advice came from a 2017 thread and I guess Zorin has changed their grub option choices since then.

So again, sorry I cannot really be of good assistance in this thread.
If I was you. I would try over here to see if they will give you more joy.

Just join them like you did here. Copy and paste your posts in this thread into a thread there. Images and everything.

I am frankly surprised the box froze at the nomodeset setting choice. Makes me wonder if you md5sum check your Linux iso downloads before running the installer. A corrupted iso download does some strange hinky things.

Thanks for all your help. I guess I'll give up on this computer and see what I can do with one of the others. Was just hoping to learn on this one without worrying about messing up anything. But, thanks to the kind people here, I've learned a lot without every using a Linux distro!

Yes, I verify every distro I download (I've been trying different ones)and when I saw the option to check the disk, I did that as I wondered if it had become corrupted or something.

Anyway, I appreciate all the help I've been given here.

Thank you,

J
