Question Need root password

Hey there....

I am using a usb thumbdrive with LINUX MInt 11 debian gnome. This version is great for running my old PC via usb port. The only gripe that I have with this version is that it asks for a ROOT PASSWORD in order to install new software. Does anyone know what the ROOT PASSWORD is or how to disable the password authenication function???

Thanks a heap!!!!!!!

There was no password setup on the STARTUP DISK CREATOR. The only password was the Operating System's password to start the process and I tried that with no success.

in a terminal do "sudo passwd root" and change it to what you want.
