Mint 17.2 KDE sluggish after login

Hi all

I'm running Linux Mint 17.2 KDE on a four-year old Dell XPS 15z laptop.

After login, the computer is sluggish for about ten minutes, and then it goes back to normal. I've checked CPU usage and it's quite low during this time.

For this particular laptop, one must include the following boot options in /etc/default/grub:
Code:
acpi_backlight=vendor dell_laptop.backlight=0
so maybe the problem is related to this.

Any ideas?
