Lost ability to launch file mgr with elevated permissions

Just installed mint 19.2 on a friends hp laptop.
Was working,then it wasn't.

Tried terminal. Error message

Code:

sudo: /usr/bin/sudo must be owned by uid 0 and have the setup bit set.

Never saw that before, so I'm lost.

Anyone know what to do?

try pkexec instead of sudo.

My apologies. I was negligent in providing more context.
This was on a friend's HP laptop.

I was attempting to open a folder with elevated permissions, by way of the context menu, within Nemo, the file manager.

I was working on 2 computers at the same time, so will have to check tomorrow, for the terminal command I used that produced that error message.

I do not care for HP products...
