Icon issue with kdocker in Mint 20 Cinnamon

Been looking at Mint 20 Cinnamon, and I'm not sure about it any more: a number of things that were fine in v.19 seem to be a bit screwed up now.

Example:

I've been using this code to minimize apps to the tray, using "kdocker" because it normally lets me pick the icon.
Code:
kdocker -d30 -i <icon file> <command to open app>

It works for a minute and then it seems Mint is changing the icon to a really weird one (for just some of these little things.)

This works fine:
Code:
kdocker -d30 -i /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/pulseeffects.svg /usr/bin/pulseeffects
These 2 do not:
Code:
kdocker -d30 -i /usr/share/icons/HighContrast/scalable/apps-extra/thunderbird-icon.svg /usr/bin/thunderbird
Code:
kdocker -d30 -i /usr/share/icons/Nitrux/apps/48/chromium.svg /usr/bin/chromium %U
Having the same icon repeated in the tray defeats the purpose.

Any thoughts?

Are you saying every application started with kdocker gets the same "weird" icon?
And what icon would that be? Screenshot(s)?

Is kdocker in the official repos? Do you use a compositor?

It seems that the only app my custom command is working properly with (on this box) is PulseEffects, which I had to get from a PPA to install here.
Everything else is out of the Mint repos

There's 2 icons that show up - a barely visible blurred black outline of something, and a little black terminal with that red circle with a line through it.
No compositor
