Ok...since you don't tell us what version of Mint, the brand/model of printer, how it was connected, how you deleted it/what you did, what do you think we'll be able to tell you??? Read the "Question Guidelines" link in my posting signature.
Without any sort of meaningful details, there is nothing we can do to help you.
I've read your post helping this problem, michael. I installed apache like the other guy but it didn't fix it.
To answer your question, the printer was working fine until I downloaded cups through terminal. since duplex printing was not available for me after I installed hplip in the terminal. My printer started printing one sided printing only after I installed its drive. My printer is a hp laserjet 1020 plus. USB connection, there is no network feature for my printer. I tried adding my printer's same model. It shows printing completed" but nothing was printed. My printer isn't even detected from my usb connection.
In the printer option, I tried connecting to local host. it shows "there was an error during cups operation: 'failed to connect to server' "
I deleted my hp and cups through purging and removing it in the terminal and re-installed drive alone, doesn't work.
The main problem is my printer stopped being detected. I can't access local host in printer options as well as in the web.
I installed apache like the other guy but it didn't fix it.
apache? What does apache have to do with anything and what 'other guy' are you referring to? You need to post a little more logical information to get help. You seem to be saying the printer was working until you installed hplip and then it would not print duplex, is that the situation? If so, what was the reason for installing hplip? What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
You might check to see the cables are correctly connected and obviously, the printer is turned on
1. When I first installed mint, my printer was detected. I couldn't print, was notprinting.
2. installed hp driver through terminal. printer fixed. problem: it was able to print only one side pages. not duplex printing.
3. installed cups. still no duplex printing
4. to fix it. tried to delete and re-install printer. now printer not detected.
5. trouble shooted. it showed "server not exporting printers".
error log: E [01/Jan/2024:22:12:44] io/hpmud/musb.c 2111: invalid serial id string ret=-7
From the manual the printer does not have a builtin duplexer. The Windows driver may of had an automatic setup for printing odd and even pages but the linux driver may not.
cups is automatically installed by default so reinstalling or deleting it will no change anything. You can not print anything without cups, did you reinstall it yet. You should also rerun hplip again to automatically setup the printer.
