hplip 3.19.2 on mint 19.3

Having a lot of trouble installing the hplip 3.19.2 or the latest one on mint 19.3. Like to know if any one has been successful. Some searches I have found indicate that there is a python problem.

Is there a specific problem with your printer that this version fixes? Why don't you stay with HPLIP 3.17.10 from the LM repository?

What is the model number of your printer?

In addition check the hplip website to see which minimum version is supported for your printer and verify that upgrading is necessary if not already accomplished.

Thanks to both for your reply's. The printer is an HP LaserJet 1000 and has a usb connection.The hplip 3.17.10 version included with the distribution does not seem to allow installation. The hp website says that older (2.7.12) of hplip is satisfactory to drive the printer. Googling the problem yields issues with 19.3 indicating that there may be a problem with the python install since hplip is based on python. Appreciate any further comments or suggestions.

Do you see the following errors when running 3.19.2?
Quote:
Plugin installation failed
error: Python gobject/dbus may be not installed
error: Plug-in install failed.

This may help you

http://openprinting.org/printer/HP/HP-LaserJet_1000

Note The driver is in repositories

There is also a GUI firmware loader {have not used this software so I can say if it will work}

Hannah-foo2zjs

I checked on my LM19.3 box and both of the drivers are installed and I do not even use that printer model so it has to be from the hplip.
