You don't install them, you probably access them in a browser. Microsoft is not going to sell Linux versions of Office because. it cuts into their windows profits. If you are talking about Office 365, it is a paid subscription service you access in a browser. There are no native, client versions of Microsoft office for Linux.

Interesting - I wonder why they offer it for free when they also have a paid subscription for the same thing. I wouldn't ever use it paid or free - have to use it daily at work and I can't stand it.

The free version is very much a cut-down neutered version of the pay version. It has SIGNIFICANT features cut (although generally only more advanced features, all the basic features are still in the free version) and can only read from/to MS cloud, cannot open local files or save locally. So they offer it because it is usable, but it's definitely not entirely convenient (I have used it once in a while for editing things at work that I absolutely NEED to be 100% MS Office compatible).

Yes so how do I make it on Linux Mint then?

Do I have to make a connection to MS cloud and how do I do that?

Follow the instructions. Make a Microsoft account and login with your browser.

Well I will have to switch Peppermint to see if they require that.

Thanks

Thanks I changed to Peppermint and tried the Microsoft Word (Online) It brought up Firefox and wanted me to sign for a Microsoft account.

Shall not bother to do this as I have loaded Libreoffice on Peppermint.

Certainly do not want to add this to my Linux Mint.

Thanks for that will mark this as solved now.

You don't have to do any of that. I guarantee Peppermint includes the links that open your browser and goes to the Office web site where you create an account and log in. There is no other way other than running Office in wine but then you have to purchase the Microsoft Office client products.

Do what you want though. You are not going to get full featured Microsoft Office for free no matter what Linux distro you use.

There is not Office in PlayOnLinux. PlayonLinux will install Office if you already own it. You would have to buy Microsoft Office and then use PlayOnLinux to install it. Make sense?

Hello! I see that you posted this question a while ago, but I'd still like to share some advice. You mentioned that you wanted to install Microsoft Word (Online) on Mint 19.2. Have you tried using Wine or PlayOnLinux to run Windows apps on Linux? These are great tools that may help with your installation. Another option to consider is using the online version of Microsoft Office, which is free and accessible through any browser. Additionally, have you heard about windows 10 reddit keys? They are affordable and legitimate keys for Windows 10. I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions, please let me know!
