Xircom card and modules.conf problems

Ive already posted this in the network threa bu I am desperate so............

Hi,

I have a Thinkpad 2645 with a Zircom Realport and a ps/2 wheel mouse. I am running Fedora 2.4.22-1.2215.

I have set this up for my parents who are sick of Windoze constantly picking up viruses etc from the net. I have some exposure to RHAS 3 and Gentoo at work but my home pc is still win2k (I only use it for Counterstrike anyway).

Anyway, my problem is that, when I boot, the card picks up DHCP until it loads X (my default rc is 5) at which point the card stops responding. Now, I have checked the IP address allocated with ifconfig and ran a continuous ping to the Thinkpad and , sure enough, once S10network is executed the ip responds until the end of rc 5 at which point X starts and the ip stops responding.

I have tried a couple of irq's the default being 11. The module selected during the build is xircom_cb. I tried changing to xirc2ps_cs having found a forum that suggested this as the corred module but when I reboot the modules.conf file changes back to the old one???.

The mouse works but not the nipple mouse (i'm sure thats not the real name) in the keyboard does not, nether does sound bu I have seen plenty about that. The main thing is getting the network card to stay up.

Last thing,

If, after X has started I stop and re-start S08pcmcia and S10network (I changed S08pcmcia from S20pcmcia so it loaded the card before it starts the network
) the network is fine. Oh, and if I do init 1 init 3 init 5 in theat order it works too

Ta
