XF86MonBrightness conflicts with other brightness setting methods

Hello

I've recently switched from using XFCE4 on Arch Linux to using OpenBox with a Fujitsu lifebook ah532 laptop
In XFCE4 the brightness worked fine out of the box with 5-6 brightness steps from min to max
In openbox it also works out of the box but with exactly 100 steps of brightness from min to max, meaning to get from 0% brightness to 100% I have to press the brightness up button 100 times
I tried binding xbacklight or even echoing a value to /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness but there is a problem
Using the commands from terminal or even binding to any key works fine
How ever binding to XF86MonBrightnessUp/Down results in weird behavior
For example if I bind "xbacklight -dec 10" to XF86MonBrightnessDown and press it, the brightness stays the same, next press it does up ~12% next press goes does ~5% and so on
I do the binding via Openbox's rc.conf file

Any help would be appreciated

Edit:
acpi is installed but not acpid
Also /etc/acpi does not exist

uname -r
3.14.0-4-ARCH
