Well, my guess is that if the essid is the same for both access points (in theory of course) I dont see why it couldnt connect to one of them at least. Outside of that, Im fresh out of ideas.

Somethings definately weird here, but I don't know on what side. I changed the ESSID on the router just to make sure that second AP wasn't another one and the scan showed both with the new ESSID.

Now hears an interesting quirk: I tried disabling ESSID broadcast on the router. Running iwlist scan after that just shows the "dead" AP. So where could the problem be here?

Looks like you posted as I was posting:

I think that the problem is it doesn't know which one to connect to. It doesn't seem like there's a way to specify the AP, at least everytime I try it doesn't work. So from somewhere, there's this dead AP popping up, and that seems to be the root of it all.
