Wireless not working nx9010 with RH9

I followed freaxś page on getting RH9 installed on this laptop, I got eveything running, except for wireless, it starts up pcmcia services on booting but the device is not recognized in the network-config wizard. Is there anywway to get this running, its a O2 Micro device, yenta_socket driver. If I put an external orinoco pci 802.1g card is there any hope of success, or will it be the same as this one??

Also anybody has had a successfull experience installing gentoo on this latop, plz let me know because I hear it has more updated kernel and drivers.
