Windows 7 won't boot after Ubuntu 10.10 installation
Just today I downloaded and installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my HP G60 laptop that already has windows 7. Now, when I start, I'm given the option of Ubuntu Loader, Two Memory Tests, Windows 7 loader, and Windows Vista loader. When I click Windows 7 loader, I am brought to another screen with the two options, Windows and Ubuntu. After I click Windows, I see the beginning of the boot where the four colors meet but after they meet, a green screen flashes and the computer is rebooted. How can I get into Windows 7? I need to use some programs on it urgently!
Was windows 7 pre-installed when you purchased the computer? If it was, you may have several windows partitions: boot, recovery, system files.
What happens when you select Windows Vista Loader?
Windows Vista was pre-installed, then I installed a Windows 7 Release Candidate, then I installed Windows 7 Ultimate. I checked before Ubuntu and I had 2 partitions, one was my main one and the other was recovery. When I click the Windows Vista Loader it shows the green lading bar and it say Microsoft, then the computer restarts after a couple seconds.
vista was pre-installed and you installed windows 7 release candidate.
Where? Over vista? New partition?
Where did you install windows 7 Ultimate?
Do you now have three different windows systems?
You indicate before installing Ubuntu you checked your partitions and had two, system files and Recovery. So does that mean you only have one version of windows now?
Looks like something went wrong in the installation of the multiple windows systems? If you have a fresh install of Ubuntu with no serious data on it, you could probably repair the windows 7 bootloader. If you have an installation CD (doubt that) or a Recovery CD. If you don't you could go to neosmart technologies and download the Recovery CD there:
