Which distro on an old laptop with no cd-rom

I have an old laptop, p133, 1gb h/d, 16mb ram, with only a floppy drive.

I can transfer files from my XP desktop to the laptop with my laplink cable, as long as there is a fat16/32 partition on the laptop's h/d. Are there any distros out there where I could transfer the files need to the laptop (either leaving the laptop's h/d as one fat16 partition, or make three partitions, one fat16, and the other two linux)?

I was hoping there would be one that could boot from a fat16 (dos) partition, and read the files on the fat16 partition, and load from there.....

You could also try muLinux:

Excellent for older hardware, and fast

Hi

I would recommend using an old version of Slackware or Debian on a system of that spec (possibly using a window manager such as Fluxbox or IceWM if you need one). I'm curerently running Slackware 3.2 on a P166 laptop with 32MB RAM and a 2GB HD.

Does it have a network card, if so you could do a network install of one of the above or you could use a floppy distro and build it up from there.
