Question which config. of proc/chipset/hardware generally?

Utter noob here.
I really want to get a laptop - never had one before & I want to run Word/Linux equiv. and audio-recording/Cubase equiv. on Linux.
Oh, and wifi to my broadband.
Any ideas on which combination of gubbins I'd need?
Like, I've heard a certain chipset is good/bad with Linux, or which processor is more sympatico with Ubuntu, or Acer make particularly loving laptops for Linux systems, etc.
Thoughts?

Most of the "geeks" around here that have wildly successful linux running laptops seem to go for the Lenovo T-series.

Really though, it seems that you don't need anything fancy, you may look at getting a certified option from:
http://www.linuxcertified.com/linux_laptops.html

Or really there are a lot of outfits out there offering Linux laptops. Since it comes pre-installed you can take some comfort in knowing it works.

thanks

Hi Chad & thanks for your reply.
I've since looked around our (UK) barebones or custom suppliers & I've got a couple of requests in for my setup.
We'll see how it goes!
Cheers,
Tim. Manchester, England.
