Welcome to the forums! Please tell us which Linux distribution or "distro" you are using (Ubuntu, Fedora, Slackware, Mint, etc) so we can give you the correct instructions.

Did you buy your computer with Linux pre-installed? If so, what brand/model of computer?

That model of Aspire One shipped with Windows XP... Linux must have been installed after-market.

If you're not sure which distro you're using, typing

Code:
uname -r
into a terminal screen usually shows the distro name after the kernel version.

How did you install Chrome? Did you install it from their site or use the package manager?

I believe that your computer came with a distribution called "Linpus" that is now obsolete. I recommend you install a currently-supported Linux such as Mint or Ubuntu; then you will have no problem installing the latest Chrome.

Here are some recent discussions about Linpus:

I went to the terminal window and typed uname -r and this is what it came up with

2.6.23.9lw

My son works for Esplex in UK now Asplex in Poland and they ship parts and computer for Acer. I am fairly certain it is Linux

The Google Chrome I downloaded from their site as the hotmail wasn't working properly

Thank you

Okay, thank you for checking... that is a Linpus kernel.

Linpus is like Fedora, but doesn't seem to have a package manager. I think the best I can do is refer you to this thread:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...stions-671372/

Judging from the errors you listed above, it sounds like Chrome is too new for some of the packages Linpus has, and the only thing I can think of to do (short of installing a new distro) is to update the existing one, which may or may not work.

Best of luck.
