Treo 90/Serial Port Question

I have a Treo 90 I'm trying to get talking with linux. I had a horrible time with USB, so I bought a cheap serial cable to link the two. I'm trying to set up the link for /dev/pilot, but I don't know how to tell which /dev/ttyS* device I'm connecting to when I sync. Does anyone know how to get this info? I'm running Redhat 9.0 if anyone knows of any utilities?

Thanks!

COM1 = /dev/ttyS0
COM2 = /dev/ttyS1
etc.

You can either use the value directly (as /dev/ttyS0) or make a symbolic link from /dev/ttyS0 to /dev/pilot and then use /dev/pilot.

I had little luck using the USB cable I have as well, so I ended up having to go through a serial port as well.
