Unhappy Toshiba Equium What Linux Distribution To Install

Hi

I have a new Toshiba Equium A60 Laptop.

I have tried to install Mandrake 10.1 2005 Edition onto it and once it has loaded it will crash the machine after a few mins or even seconds.

Any ideas on what this problem could be?

I am using this version of Mandrake currently on a Desktop PC fine.

I have also tried installing debian onto this machine but i cant even get to the install part. I get a Kernel Panic error when booting the install cd.

Or is there a better Free Linux distribution i can try on this Laptop.

Any help would be great.

I have the same machine but with Fedora 4 installed.

The problem I had was that the machine just switched off after a few minutes due to over heating during the install.

I solved it by setting the power management to maximum (CPU max and the fan is working all the time). I did this in the BIOS - (ALT-ESC at boot time I think it was).
