Stubborn Broadcom 43224 in Macbook Air 3,1, need Wifi assistance, Slackware Current

I had been using Broadcom's proprietary wl drivers with my Macbook Air's bcm43224 for a fair bit of time, but they proved to be a bothersome obstacle when I just wanted to simply connect to the router and get things done on the internet. So now I am currently posting connected with a USB ethernet adapter in hopes that I could find out how to properly set up one of the superior alternatives, like brcmsmac. I have given the latter a shot, but it proved difficult, and gave up after a while, and now I make the attempt again. Which is the best? What should I know? Also, the kernel is 3.2.13 stock.

Thanks!
