Splash screen on Dell Inspiron 1100

THis may be a stupid question but it is irritating me, so here goes. I have SuSE 9.0 Pro on 2 of my systems. One system is a desktop and one is a Laptop. The Desktop has the boot up splash screen with the Chameleon working but my laptop does not. Both have Splash=silent in the bootloader configuration. Is there anything with my laptop that needs to be done differnetly or is it just being weird. Any help would be appreciated.

i'm making the assumtion your using grub and talking about the grub splashscreen, check out your grub.conf or menu.lst file (i think it's grub.conf on rpm based distro's, i'm on debian so it's menu.lst) and just comment out any mention of splash.

Actually I"m using Lilo and I"m talking about the splashscreen in SuSE 9 with the little Chameleon in the middle of the screen and a white loading bar at the bottom of the lizard. It usually goes over the kernel boot messagse from the init scripts. I"m sorry if I'm beign to complicated. it just irritates me that one system has it and one does not, even though they were both installed the same.

okay, try commenting out the message line in lilo, and then running lilo as root. i found a good article about it here:
