Sony VAIO PCG-FR415B and Linux

Hello world, newbie here

I'm thinking of buying a laptop and am quite tempted by the Sony VAIO PCG-FR415B (Celeron 2.8GHz 512MBRAM 40GB HDD CD-RW/DVD 15"TFT ). I've searched extensively and can find no reference to this model's compatability with Linux. Running Linux is a must and I really don't have the skills to work it all out if its not straightforward.

So does anyone else use this model or can you point me to any info on it? It is new I think so maybe there's nothing on it yet.

I'm also thinking of TOSHIBA Satellite Pro A10 as an alternative. This is a lower spec but sounds good and I have found a lot saying it handles Linux well.

From what I've read Fujitsu, Toshiba and Sony Vaio are the best for Linux, is this right?

thanks in advance

Forgot to ask the other question I had, sorry its a bit off-topic. I want to buy the best possible warranty with what ever laptop I get and am in a dilema whether to get a 3 year warranty direct from the maufacturer or buy the whole thing at Comet and get their extended 5 year one. It depends on the model but mostly the prices are comparable. The Comet offer is better on paper but they don't have the best reputation for service. Does anyone have any good or bad experience with Comet computer suuport people?
Cheers

I guess this is too long ago and u made your decision allready but i will post it to keep it for other people in trouble with vaios.
I had some trouble installing linux on a vaio. In my case that was because of the docking station contains the CD-ROM and the whole docking station is connected by firewire. So the cdrom needs firewire to work which is not included in common install (cdrom boot) kernels and it will fail to find its root file system on the CD after booting the bootstrap.
I finally did the job by using the preinstalled windows to copy the first CD to the HDD and install it from there.

It was a PCG-R505V/BD and i am right now typing on it
