sony vaio motion eye camera VCC-U01

hello out there!

i'm using a sony vaio pcg-tr5mp with kubuntu 7.10. most of things worked out of the box. but there are two things that doesn't work - the motion eye camera and the speakers. the soundcard works because i have sound with headphones.

the command lsusb shows following output:
Bus 004 Device 003: ID 054c:014d Sony Corp. Memory Stick Reader/Writer
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 054c:0107 Sony Corp. VCC-U01 Visual Communication Camera
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

anyway i have no idea where i could start searching. does someone has a good idea? or maybe a solution for the two problems?

thanks in advance

Motion Eye Camera

Hi!

I also have a VAIO Laptop with a Motion Eye Camera, which is working very well.
There is one difference between my camera and yours, check this:

The output of lsusb is this:

Bus 005 Device 004: ID 0ac8:c002 Z-Star Microelectronics Corp.

This part is only the one of the camera.
This is the Web page where I downloaded the driver:
http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca5xx.html
Before installing check if your camera is supported!
