I've tried doing just that. and it didn't work. maybe there's something i'm missing. i've just been restarting the computer in hopes that it worked. i'm thinking maybe there's something i've been missing all along. i'm using the precompiled module and i notice no difference. i got sisctrl compiled and installed, and it only picks on 800x600 as well.
in xorg.conf i have:
Code:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "sis"
VendorName "Videocard vendor"
BoardName "SiS 650"
Option "EnableSiSCtrl" "yes"
EndSection
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Videocard0"
Monitor "Monitor0"
DefaultDepth 16
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 16
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubSection
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 16
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubSection
EndSection
I manually edited in "1024x768" in the Modes
and changed Depth to 16 under defaultdepth, and the first "Display" subsection. i was assuming the subsection named the same was for 16, or 24 though. so my next restart fixes that back. there's an easier way to restart the x server i'm sure. but i'm too lazy to learn at this early in the morning. i appreciate your replies.
