Unhappy Save XLS & DOC Through Ubuntu 6.10 OpenOffice

Dear Sirs,
I have a very strange problem on the Doc. & Xls files
which I do not think it's a big problem but I am who
are not experienced in the openoffice and ubuntu.

I am always using Microsoft Office (Excel & Word) in my
work and when I started to use Ubuntu I found that I have
o use OpenOffice or Gnumeric Spreadsheets ... I am always
opening the xls or doc.files from OpenOffice and I could
amend and do everything I need for the files which already
saved on the Windows Ext. (My Documets)

The Problem:
If the file does not exist on the windows dir. (My Documents) ..
the OpenOffice reject to save the new file in windows dir. and
the only way to save the file is to put it in the ubuntu (Home)
dir. which could not be read from Microsoft Office under Win. Xp

The second problem is the resolution of the OpenOffice is not
good as all the ubuntu other interface or Win. (It looks Faded)

Regards

Does this happen only with OpenOffice.org, or with other applications as well?
Does your user have enough rights for saving files to the mounted "My Documents" partition?

which could not be read from Microsoft Office under Win. Xp
If its an ext2/ext3 partition see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ext2#External_links for applications to read the partition.

No idea about that, sorry.
