I have just got a new Fujitsu Siemens Amilo-D 3.06Ghz notebook with HyperThreading and RH9 won't install. I have tried all of the usual options, i.e. remove PCMCIA cards and try all of the boot options (i.e. nousb, noprobe, nopcmcia, etc) but it just doesn't get past mini-root startup and get into Anaconda. That isn't strictly true since on one occasion - without me changing anything - it did start Anaconda but hung selecting the mouse.
Help! Any ideas?
It must be possible since someone on the What Laptop forums has been saying how good it is!
Well, I now have it installed. Someone who said it was easy offerred no help but did say his BIOS version, which was later than mine. Like many "do nothing " pieces of code this BIOS update fixed all the Windows XP bugs I had and allowed RH9 to go on immediately and it now flies with the SMP Kernel - on a notebook!
So try the Amilo-D for RH9 but get BIOS 1.05C - ignore that it "doesn't fix anything but the startup screen"....
