Unhappy Resolution in Red Hat

Hello All,

I am running Red Hat Enterprise Edition 4 on my Sony Vaio VGN-FS 760/W laptop. It has NVIDIA GeForce Go 6400. The maximum resolution I get in Windows is 1280 x 960. But in Linux I only get the default 1024 x 768. I have tried changing it but it goes back to the default. Could you please let me know what patches (if any) I need to install to get the higher resolution?

Thanks!

P.S I looked at linux-on-laptop.com website and they do not have the model I have.

System-config-display

Maybe fairly obvious, and i presume you have already done this,
But did you try "system-config-display"

If this does not help try reconfiguring the file in /etc/X11.
It should be called xorg.conf or XF86Config.

You can edit this file manually and try to set the resolution there.
Sync rates might be a problem, but maybe you can "steal" them from other simular laptop configurations on the net.

If you loose the file, simply rerun system-config-display
