problems when system try to probe ports

I just installed Slackware 11 with the huge26.s kernel on my Sony Vaio VGN-S580P. Everything worked fine until I installed the extra modules. Now when I boot it hangs when it tries cs: IO port probe ... (I cant remember what it was probing but at this moment i dont think that it is important). Is there a kernel flag that I can use to tell linux not to probe ports? I cant get in so editing files is not an option yet.

I already posted this in the Slackware forum but no one seems to know the answer.
