Smile Post-GRUB and Ctrl-Alt-F2 is Garbled, Gnome is Viewing Perfectly...

Hey guise! I have a little problem with my display and I was wondering if anyone could help me... If so, that would be awesome as I'm a little frustrated...

Installed ubuntu and after GRUB loads, the display gets all garbled and the ubuntu symbol is unrecognizable. This I could easily live with.

However if I hit Ctrl+Alt+f2, the display gets the same way, garbled and distorted, when I should see the command line.

Gnome is working perfectly for me, it seems when my monitor is told to display plain text (it appears) that it has a rendering problem... Anyone know of a fix for this? I have my comp hooked up to a Gateway VX700 external monitor because my laptop screen has long since bit the dust... (By bit the dust, I mean collided with a cat, long story no abuse involved, just a stupid cat... But I digress...)

Thought it could have been just the distro of ubuntu, installed the earliest version of ubuntu I had... Went from Gutsy up to the current release. No distro corrects the problem.

Bump. I know everyone is probably busy. So no big deal, but hopefully someone can point me in the right direction...
