Please OS X, OUT !

Dear experts,
I'm having a macbook-pro (4,1) since one year, unfortunatly my "leopard" experience is going to run out. Thus I just want to throw OS X away from my mac.

The target system would be a dual boot xp(games) / kubuntu...
But it seems that Apple made the book-pro as a fortress !
In that trip one answer meets many questions ...

First of all, here is a description of the mac :
-macbook-pro 4,1
-Mac OS X 10.5.5
-Intel Core 2 Duo
-2 Go
-GeForce 8600M GT

The First target is to not use BootCamp to split the hard drive...
I would love a Win or Linux setup to make it.

Thus Question 1, Can I erase all my disk (even the MBR) and re-install OS-X from the Apple install dvd ? Would I be able to get a leopard back in case of install failure ?

Secondly, the boot loader ... macbooks are using EFI and not BIOS.
After reading this http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-L.../msg01536.html it seems that the first partition should be an efi one ? Is it possible to configure easily BootCamp as Grub, how to replace it by rEFIt (http://refit.sourceforge.net/) ?

Thanks
