Pcmcia problem compaq presario 2100

Hello, I've installed linux mandrake 9.0 on a compaq presario 2100 , but I have one problem, when linux is loading it freezes when loading PCMCIA so I have to press ŽIŽ so I can skip PCMCIA on the booting, but I don't know how to disable that so it wont try to load it every time, so I won't have to press ŽIŽ everytime I boot linux, I am new to linux so I don't know where should I configure that ,
hope you can help me
thank you

Hi
The quick 'n' dirty way to switch of pcmcia is shown below. However, this does suggest a more serious problem, and you probably need to use PCMCIA if you are using a Lappy.

When linux boots, the the services which are started are listed in a run level directory using symbolic links to a file. The PCMCIA services is unsurprisingly called pcmcia, and, depending on distro, is in something like /etc/init.d or perhaps /etc/rc.d.

Do an 'ls' in the appropriate dir to see it.

To switch it of, all you have to do is delete the symlink to the file in the appropriate directory. There are six runlevels, so check each one to see where it starts. The run level dirs are subdirs of the above.
When you find the symlink - it will be something like "S05pcmcia". Delete it by typing - rm 'filename'.
