Option Globetrotter Fusion on Toshiba Tecra/FC5

I'm trying to get a t-mobile web n walk pro service running on my Toshiba Tecra M3, using the provided card.

I know the card works OK because I've got it working easily under windows (on the same machine), but now I need to get it going under Fedora Core 5 (2.6.15).

I've worked out that the card is an Option Globetrotter Fusion, and I've found various resources for installing those (esp. www.pharscape.org), but I'm getting stuck because the machine doesn't recognise the card.

PCMCIA seems to be working OK because if I put in my netgear WLAN PCMCIA card it recognises it and it starts working straight away. However, when I put in the Globetrotter card, it recognises that there is a Cardbus card inserted, but nothing else.

# pccardctl status

gives me:

Socket 0:
3.3V 32-Bit PC Card

And the system log just says:

localhost kernel: pccard: CardBus card inserted into slot 0

but nothing after that. If I try:

# cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

it just lists four UHCI controllers and one EHCI but no card. Seems like it sees the card but doesn't know what to do with it. Problem is I don't know how to tell it.

Can anyone help me with this??

How far did you get through this tutorial?

Have you tried loading the windows drivers for the card from the supplied CD using NDISWrapper?

Have you tried the drivers from Option?

Sorry, wasn't ignoring you - I just got married.

I don't get very far through the tutorial. Under 2.1.1 (PCMCIA) I don't get the two device message from pccardctl, and the device details don't appear in the system log (see original post).

However, lspci -vv gives me this:
Quote:
05:00.1 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. Unknown device 1fb7 (rev 43)
Subsystem: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. Unknown device 0000
Control: I/O- Mem- BusMaster- SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B-
Status: Cap+ 66MHz+ UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR-
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 18
Region 0: Memory at 32020000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [disabled] [size=64K]
Region 1: Memory at 32030000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [disabled] [size=64K]
Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 2
Flags: PMEClk- DSI- D1- D2- AuxCurrent=0mA PME(D0-,D1-,D2-,D3hot-,D3cold-)
Status: D0 PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=0 PME-

05:00.2 Network controller: Option N.V. Unknown device 000c
Control: I/O- Mem- BusMaster- SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B-
Status: Cap- 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR-
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 18
Region 0: Memory at 32040000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [disabled] [size=2K]
so it seems to be finding the two devices. I just don't know how to make it do something with them. As far as I can see, no devices are appearing - I've certainly got no /dev/ttyUSB* devices.

As far as drivers are concerned, I haven't tried any because I'm not sure how to use them. Also I was trying to follow one path - the Pharscape tutorial - rather than doing lots of different ones and making a complete dog's dinner of it.

Thanks in advance for any pointers you can give.

Further to the last email, I've tried with a WLAN PCMCIA card that I have and it detects that fine, and the device appears and can be configured etc. Main difference is that it's not a cardbus card. Could it be anything to do with the cardbus controller?
