So I just got a hold of a very old gateway laptop it's a gateway2000 solo. it has like 36 mb ram a less than 10 gb hd though not sure of it's exact size..no ethernet port...no cd rom...but it does have a 3 1/2 floppy drive...I want 2 get linux on it..I have a basic knowledge of linux but I usally do my installs and trash from off a cd. So anyways I've descided that this would be a good time to try LFS ( linux from scratch).. The only tool I have right now is a distro live boot of linux with FDisk so i can make partitions but no mkdosfs so i can't format them..It also don't meet my requirements.. which is why i'm hear looking for tools for setting up my hard drive and help finding a 3 1/2 floppy distro for starting that meets my requirements for installing LFS...They are a kernel of 2.6.2 or later and a GCC-3.0 or higher..Does anyone know where i can find a full floppy install of linux with those requirements and some boot floppy tools for setting up my hd partitions and formating them?
Those were good guides but I was unable to use them cause they both needed an internet connection and the top don't have an ethernet port or 56k modem so i need a install completly from floppy..

If you know your linux then you should probably go with Slackware, or if you are interested try one of the BSD's. Everything configured on those is optional (no bloat), which is what you need.
