Unhappy Monitor probs

Hi all, I'm very new to this, so maybe this is the wrong type of question, but here goes:

I've just installed Fedora Core 3 (I don't know which distribution--how do I check?) on my Toshiba Satellite 2250XCDS with dual boot Win 98.

It seems to work fine, but doesn't recognize the monitor and doesn't offer in the "configure" display list the monitor that's listed in my manual (Satellite 2250XCDS 13.0" color display DSTN supporting 16 million colors at 800 x 600).

As a result there is 3/4" wide bar across the bottom of the screen that doesn't display. Is there a way to find and plug in the appropriate driver? Where does Fedora store drivers?

Thanks a bunch!

Well, Fedora Core 3 IS the name of your distribution for starters.

The only idea I have is to change your display from whatever it is to a Generic 800x600 LCD monitor. I don't quite remember where resolution settings are in Fedora Core, so you'll have to look around for them. Might be right clicking on the desktop or it could be in the menu under System or Settings.
