hi, everyone! this is my first time here. i am a newbie.
i have a laptop (compaq presario 1800XL 481), and have a Lucent 56K V9.0 PCI DFi Modem. i have downloaded a driver from linmodem.org, and have compiled and installed the driver "successfully"(well, no errors occur during the installation), but when i run # wvdialconf create, it said there was no modem detected.

I guess you are fucked up:

I own an Acer laptop with a Lucent AMR winmodem, and never got it working. If yours is also AMR, then forget about it.

Question: Is it shared with the sound card ?
I mean, when you installed Windows on the laptop (I'm sure you did), and after installing the sound card, did it appear the modem ( or viceversa) ?

If so, you are out of luck.
