Linux Won't Recover after Sleep

I have a Sony FXA63 laptop and I have a friend who has a different laptop and he has the same problem. Well my laptop goes to sleep when you press fn->Esc or fn->F12, it seems that it went to sleep fine and everything but when you press any key to wake it up it seems like it woke up but there is just a black screen, I have no Idea if it did turn back on and I just can't see because the screen is black but in any case it won't recover. Is this the same with everyone else? if not, can someone help me? Thanks.
