Linux Puppy Wireless Connecting


This noob is using a bootable USB drive to load Puppy onto a Netbook. My first problem is that I cannot connect wirelessly.

I am using a "Lynksys WRT54GL" router and I have had no trouble when using Mint and Lubuntu. Puppy appears to be more difficult.

I have tried using the Puppy Network Wizard but I need some help. Can someone point me in the right direction please.?

A lot of people have trouble with wifi. I get the feeling that your router should be OK. The place to start is usually by finding out what network card you have. Many laptops have broadcom and you'd need to add in that driver.

Maybe start with two terminal commands. lspci and ifconfig. There are plenty to start but these may work for now. Use the web page to for how they suggest commands like lsmod. http://puppylinux.org/wikka/HowToWifiFromCommand

If your wireless card is supported in puppy then we need to move on to using the wizard. The last step would be looking at the router.

I tend to start at wired.

It appears that my Netbook has a Broadcom BCM4313 Wirelass LAN Controller. Can you please bear with me and advise the procedure of adding the driver.?

I tried ifconfig and this is what I got:

It looks as though I am not on the right track and that getting my Netbook to operate wirelessly using Puppy may be beyond my capabilities. Thanks

Thanks for that link but I think I will need some more guidance if someone has the time available please.

I can't for instance download "kernal source" requires authorization?. I really like Puppy and I will try everything to enable

me to connect with WiFi. I have tried Mint, Lubuntu, and Zorin and have no trouble connecting.
