linux on a Ericsson


Hi,

i'm just looking into maybe having a bit of a play with getting ride of the sony Ericsson OS that comes standard on the W610i & put on a version of linux, has anyone ever done this before?? if so could they point me in the right direction?

Motorola has quite a few phones running on linux kernel.Few people have even succeded in getting root prompt! the source codes are available on request. Pls chk on thr site.

What does Motorola have to do w/ Ericsson phones?

Few of the Motorola phones run on Linux including the one that I own(A1200). So that may help.

Check out the openmoko-project. Currently they are working on getting their own OS (Openmoko) to run on a specially made cell phone, but the plan is to get the OS to run on any cell phone.

i've looked at openmoko and although it seams just what i want, i can't find any downloads of the software, instructions or information on how to do it, can anyone offer any help?
