linux can't detect my hardware !!!

Hi there ;
i have HP pavilion dv5122 and i tried to install many operationg system like suse 10 , ubuntu and debian .
all of these system can't detect my HD when i am trying to install it. it says there is no HD detected.
in some page from the site hp.com i red that i must load the AHCI contorell driver to ensure that the notebook hard drive is detected and usable for the installation, but this note is for Windows operating systems.
can anybody help me to know what i can do to give the linux system detect my HD.

thanks

Did you try the ubuntu "alternate install cd"? It's got more choices they say...you could also tell your Linux kernel to load acpi if you liked.

I have a hp dv8235nr and it had in the Bios a sata hardware accelerator that only works with windows if you have this in your bios turn it off and detection will be no problem.

Oh sweet Jesus thank you! I have an HP Pavilion DV6000 and I have tried EVERYTHING (except disabling native sata support in my bios). Not even xp install disks could see my hd. This fixed it though!
