laptop media keys do not mute subwoofer

any ideas?

i've configured the mute button to use XF86AudioMute using xmodmap, the speakers mute, but the subwoofer remains on

same thing happens if I use 'amixer set Master off/toggle'
however, 'amixer set Master 0' will mute it

the volume up/down keys will control the subwoofer levels, as well. and alsamixer's Master level will control all the speakers, except for muting (like I can just lower the levels to 0 and the subwoofer goes silent, but muting doesnt affect it)

Which...

What is the machine and what is the distribution? You need to give much more information to get a qualified answer to so detailed a question.

Sorry to bump an older thread, but I have the same problem, same model of laptop, but am using Arch linux.

EDIT: Solved it by adding

Quote:
options snd-hda-intel model=asus-mode4
to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf
