Kali Linux 1.1.0 missing pentest packages and issue with Rosewill wifi adapter
I recently installed Kali on my IBM Thinkpad G40, and realized the only pentest packages installed are NMAP and Netcat, nothing else. I tried apt-get update and upgrade, and it tells me it's all current.
The other issue is with the Rosewill RNX-n600ube wifi adapter. In the network manager, it says "device not ready, no driver", whic I believe is wrong, as I have used this same disk to install Kali on another machine, and it installed a default driver that worked fine with the RNX. Am I better off reinstalling the whole deal? Ifconfig just shows the ethernet interface, and the lo interface, nothing for wireless. iwconfig shows:
wlan 0 802.11 abgn ESSID: off/any
mode:managed access point: not associated tx power 0dbm
retry short limit 7 RTS thr off fragmnt thr off
encryption key off
power management off
OK, reinstalled, made sure "kali linux tools" was checked during the install options, as well as the other items checked by default, still no go. refuses to load the driver or install the tools.

wow, nothing? thankfully I figured it out. The CD I was using was a "mini install" or something, and I guess only has the base system. I realized something was up when I saw the DVD was only 20+MB
