Hi,
please try this, I am sorry I havn't mentioned it earlier:
you need to blacklist the original not working module (driver) rtl8xxxu , by editing
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
and adding line
Code:
blacklist rtl8xxxu
Hope it helps.
Thank you very much, now it works correctly! I had added some lines to the blacklist.conf but I think they were wrong and for this reason I could not get it to work

I try to install different distro's on my EZBook 3Pro but i be doomed to failure.
At first i install the rEFInd boot manager manually from Windows. (it works)
After them i try to install Lubuntu (and other) but my system doesn't boot from the LiveUSB.
My last try with isorespin.sh was -i ~/linuxmint-18.2-kde-64bit.iso -b rEFInd -g "" -g.
After them i create the LiveUSB with dd but i can't boot it.
Where is my mistake?

Did you post your questions/problems on Linuxium's blog page?
When you try to boot what do you see, just blank/black screen?

No.
No. There are some words divided onto two lines but, sorry,
i didn't have the Netbook here with me so it's impossible to
reproduce the content. I will do it tomorrow.
Edit:
The message is:
Starting grubx64.efi
Using load options ''
I think I know, where your problem lies - you should boot the respun ISO on usb directly from UEFI, not from rEFInd already installed on eMMC.
the other option with rEFInd from eMMC:
rEFInd on emmc doesn't know boot parameters for your Mint on USB, but it is possible to edit the command by selecting the USB, pressing F2 2x and add these parameters manually.
I don't know exactly for Mint. but for example for stock ( = not respun, because isorespin doesn't support arch based distros) Manjaro 17.02 , I got:
Code:
initrd=boot\initramfs-x86_64.img
and I added:
Code:
misobasedir=manjaro misolabel=MJRO1702
and these parameters I found in some .cfg in grub on the usb.
Hi,
I just tested it for you with Mint 18.2 KDE, and it works.
To make it as easy as possible, I used isorespin and all i set up was path to downloaded mint iso and persistent storage of 990MB.
(Turning on the storage makes it select rEFInd boot manager).
Because I respun in Manjaro, I was unable to add packages (build-essential,git) or change kernel version.
Then I copied the iso to usb using dd.
I booted the usb directly from UEFI, selected mint in rEFInd, waited with patience like 30 sec and voila - live mint desktop.
hey guys, wondering if anyone has any real ideas... Jumper Ezbook 3 Pro...
So I have been able to respin an Ubuntu ISO so that it includes the refind boot-manager, it lets me install it to my Apollo Lake laptop.... however what it doesn't do is that it doesn't install refind onto the hard disk which means as soon as it finishes the installation and reboots it doesn't even boot again once you restart the device, you cant install refind via refind-install because its running off the live usb so tries to install to usb which fails clearly, cant mount the mmc because it says its in use or busy,
how exactly are you meant to get refind up and running? i've spent days reading tutorials that are severely lacking detail, writing dozens and dozens of images to USB, read the rather lacking manual pages on the refind website....i'm still absolutely no further to having refind installed on my laptop than I was when I first began.
grub is useless for apollo lake laptops, refind seems to be my only choice and there is seemingly no way to install it other than installing windows 10, installing refind... then installing linux which just seems like an incredibly crazy process.
any help would be appreciated before I throw this out the window
I don't even want an ubuntu or ubuntu based distro really but it's my only choice since not a single other distro can boot on this machine
And it is no true, that only ubuntu based distros boot (after respin) with this machine. Plain Arch boots out of the box, Antergos and Solus too. If you have version 3 with AC wifi powered by intel chip, you should be able to boot and install these arch based distros without problems and difficulties. (but again, you are going to need to install rEFInd for proper booting after install).
By the time you have rEFInd properly installed, you should be able to boot more Linux distros from USB.
Yes, i can confirm that. I have install Arch, Mint and Elementary OS.
But I have another problem with rEFInd. The laptop doesen't boot every time
into Linux. Frequently the Linux icon is nonexistent on the rEFInd boot menu.
In this case i have to boot into Win 10 and (maybe) only the next "boot session"
show me the Linux icon on boot menu.
What can I do to fix this issue?
