Intel 945GM widescreen external missing edges

Hi all,

Really need to get this sorted by tomorrow morning [12 hours away]

Its a Lenovo Z61t Thinkpad using the Intel 950 chipset.

I have played with X and pretty quickly got the external VGA output working. or so I thought. Its missing the left hand side, about 15% of the screen is missing, but is usable on the internal LCD.

I have tried turning off 915resolution that was giving me the 1280x768 so it would default back to 1024x768. Still doesn't make a difference.

This is all using clone mode. I am going to look into using two different displays, stipulating different res and some how try and get them to clone, but I am worried this wont work either.

PS I have booted up with the projector plugged in and the BIOS and boot splash all show correct and fit on the screen, but as soon as X kicks in we're back to missing the left hand side of the screen

Trying to show off Linux so really would like this working smoothly....

Thanks
