HELP no keyboard at all / Which one to start? C or C++?

Hi,

I have actually two questions:

First: I'm new to this Linux-world, and as far as I've gone i love it and are willing to contribute to linux. But that means programming. But where? should I start on C? or go directly to C++?. Should I buy one of those "For dummies" books? (i've been looking for tutorials on the internet but can't find one). I want to learn fast!!

Second: I managed to install Debian 3.1 on my HP pavillion ZE5170. First i did the partitions using Knoppix Qparted. Then used the NET-install disk to download and install from a mirror. At first the Lap seemed to freeze at the language screen, so i assumed it was the keyboard. Bullseye! It was. I connected another USB Keyboard on the LAP and continued with the installation... But now I can't get the LAP-Keyboard to work, not even at the login prompt. What do I do?

I'd appreciate any help. THNX

Personally i would say start learning C as thats the foundation language of the linux/unix system as written in. c++ would be the second to learn as it builds upon C in some respect.

you might want to google around for decent tutorials to which you might find suitable to you're self... as you're programing background will differ from someone else

hope that was any good of a counsel

Your C/C++ question is probably better suited in the Programming forum.

I might suggest rather then creating a new thread there to just search through some old ones. This question has been beaten like a dead horse around here.

For starters:
C vs C++ (not another flame)
Which C language to learn?
Learn C/C++
C, C++ or C#
