Is this an external CD-rom maybe a PCMCIA card?
If it is then your computer is not loading the drivers for you card before booting maybe? You select boot from CDrom but it finds none because the drivers are not active at that time.

cool. glad you got that worked out. as far as wireless goes without some info like what kind of wireless vendor are you using, etc., it's hard to really tell what you need to do exactly. this link is a google link, but don't take it as a facetious gesture, since this is just a search on the general subject of wireless linux support.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...=Google+Search

also, you can go to your vendor's site and see if they have linux support.

look in /etc/sysconfig you will find the network scripts for your hardware.

It's hard to answer you because your not asking specific questions. Please research a bit on how to, then ask.

wireless

ok, I see network wireless scrip there
but my question is this..
how do I know if my wireless network is working?
I was expecting to see a status icon on the task bar or on the desktop.
since I do not see nothing, there is no way for me if my wireless network is up and working.

PS
I have a LinkSYS wireless Router in my garage and I had it working under XP but I dont have no clue if this thing is working under LInux...
just to let ya know that my wireless sys is LINKSYS.
