I've installed Fedora Core 3 on my inspiron 1150 and everything works fine, video, sound, playback, even mp3's now that I downloaded the plugins.

The problem is I'll be playing sound, in xmms, realplayer and I believe all other programs, and then when I plug in my headphones the sound stops, there is no play through on the headphones. I've tried several different sets of headphones and still no sound. I know the jack is not broken because I just recently had XP installed and the headphone jack worked fine.

Your help will be appreciated.

i have an inspiron 5160 and my headphone jack is (annoyingly) separately controlled from the master volume, try looking for a headphone slider in volume control settings (use your favourite volume control program or right click the volume control symbol in KDE/gnome)

I can't believe it was something that simple. It works now, thanks a ton. I should have done some more looking around, but I'm not sure I would have thought of something so simple. I went searching all over the internet for some special audio drivers, dummy me.
