Question Floppy driver gets activated when using USB Flash drive

I have a new Averatec Laptop. Yes Averatec is a strange no-name brand, work bought it for me because I need a laptop occasionally and it was cheap. The main issue I am having with it is that the 3150H model which I have has USB floppy support in the bios because it does not support a built in floppy. This is all well and good, but when I try to use my USB Flash drive (lexar media JumpDrive Sport, USB 2.0) depmod shows all the normal hotplug, hey there is a new USB mass storage device, information, but then on the last line the damn OS tries loading the floppy.o driver.

Now I have done quite a lot of troubleshooting on Linux trying to get weird laptops to work, but I have no clue were to tell Linux not to try loading the floppy.o driver when encountering a storage device on USB. Frankly I would be happy to just disable the floppy driver entirely simply because I don't see myself ever using one again, what with CD-R(W), and USB-Flash drives. But I don't know how to do that either, without recompiling the Kernel. Recompiling the Kernel is something that gives me cold sweats, I have never been able to do it 100% successfully.

Anyone have any ideas of what I can do to rectify this?

I am currently running Fedora Core 2.

Thanks!
