Fedora won't install on Ferrari 3200LMi - SuSE problem
Hi!
I've been trying to install fedora core (both i386 and AMD64 versions) on my ferrari 3200 laptop but I can't finish the installation. After the kernel is loaded, and some kernel messages appear on screen (about the IDE hard disks etc) I get a blank screen and that's it. The anaconda installer doesn't start. I have tried to install the same distro on other machines and the point when my ferrari's diplay goes blank is the point when, on other computers, the screen flickers for a second, then the font changes quite a bit (perhaps it's loading some framebuffer stuff) and then I get the disk check option (which of course I always skip). However I don't get past this flickering part on my ferrari. Any ideas? Is there any option to disable framebuffer use by the installation program?
I also bought a Suse 9.2 DVD from linuxcd.org. The problem is, it is a dual layer DVD-R, and my laptop's drive cannot read those. So I have to do a network/HD install (I prefer the latter, I haven't configured NFS on my LAN or anything like that).
Unfortunatelly the DVD does not come with a boot.iso image so that I can burn it on a CD and initiate the installation process using that CD. What's more my laptop does not have a floppy drive for me to use the boot disks provided in the CD-ROM. Can I use the boot.iso file from the 9.1 version? Should the full .iso image of the 9.2 DVD be given a specific filename for the installation program to detect?
Thanks in advance,
George
