Dual Screen Tutorial?


Hi can anyone direct me to a tutorial on setting up a second screen with my laptop?

If you are looking to hook up an additional monitor because your graphics card can display across two screens, then you should check out Xinerama.

And if you simply want to see the same output on the laptop's screen AND external screen then you should be able to do it from within laptop's own controls (Fn + something on Compaq's):

- laptop screen only
- external screen only
- laptop screen and external screen

If you have a NVidia video card on your laptop, as i do, then there are instructions which come with the Nvidia grapics card on editing your X11 files to enable the twinview option, its really good documentation, and worth a read...

Other than that.. dunno
